36” overall, 30 ½” slender slightly curved blade with one narrow and one wide fuller, D shaped reeded knucklebow with chiselled steel dog faced pommel, shell shaped rear quillon, silver ribbon and twisted wire spiral shaped ivory grip. In its original brass and black leather scabbard.

Circa 1770

English or possibly American, very high quality with well executed pommel. Sword in very good condition, most blade polish remaining, small loses to silver wire. Scabbard broken across at the middle locket.

The name came from the French "couteau de chasse" which means hunting knife.
