A Very Rare Scottish Heart Butt Dog Lock Flintlock Pistol.16” overall, 11” four stage round barrel with five raised moulded bands, slightly flared octagonal muzzle. Bevelled left hand lock of highland form with horizontal sear & dog catch, round fence on end of pan, bevelled frizzen. Two piece heart shaped iron butt with spare double line engraving, button trigger, flat belt hook and iron ramrod.
Circa 1670.
In quite good condition considering its age, ramrod pipe split, pricker missing, barrel retaining screw replaced.
