A Very Fine Prize HAC Percussion Carbine by Parker. 40” overall, 24” sighted .577 three groove barrel fitted with rear two leaf folding 200 & 300 yard sights & engraved ‘233 HOLBORN LONDON’, border & scroll finely engraved barrel tang, & lock & hammer, the lock signed ‘PARKER FIELD & SONS’, full stock with chequered fore-end & wrist, the right side of the butt with silver oval presentation plaque with garter surround engraved ‘HONBLE ARTILLERY COMY BEXHILL AUGT 1864’, within the garter surround & ‘FIELD BATTERY Presented by Richard Dawes Jr Esqr (LATE LIEUTENANT) to beshot for by carbines won by GUNNER W.H. BURROUGHES’. Border & finely scroll engraved regulation brass mounts, steel ramrod. In its original green baize lined oak case, the inside of the lid with maker's trade label, complete with Yataghan bayonet engraved ‘Parker Field & Sons’, scabbard, flask, mould, spring clamp, Kerrs sight protector, Seargeant's tool, sling, cleaning rod, starting rod, cap tin & a letter dated 1954 pertaining to the previous owner Mrs D. Burroughes.
