A Very Fine South German Carved Staghorn Powder Flask,

7” overall. Formed from a forked section of brown stained natural staghorn carved in cameo with a stag beset by hounds in a wooded landscape, pursued by huntsman. Stopper with a hound and a hare, silver mounts including suspension mounts formed as oak leaves, with original green suspension cord.

Powder flask of extraordinary quality with high grade carved decorations. Nozzle missing

Possibly attributed to Lebrecht Wilhelm Schulz (German, 1774-1864), circa 1830-1840.

Lebrecht Wilhelm Schulz (1774 - 1863) was a famous carver of horn pipes and flasks at the beginning of the 19th century.
