30 ½” overall, 15” browned steel twist barrel turned & belled at the muzzle, fitted with a spring bayonet above, octagonal breech with two gold lines, becoming polygonal & signed ‘Forsyth & Co. Patent Gunmakers, London’, along the top flat, foliate engraved tang with engraved bayonet catch, border engraved flat lock engraved 'Forsyth & Co. Patent', foliate engraved serial numbered [1968] primer struck 'F' over 'Patent'. Figured full stock with chequered grip, border engraved steel mounts comprising butt plate decorated with foliage on the tang, trigger guard with a martial trophy & foliage on the bow, trigger plate with pineapple finial, saddle bar & two rings, vacant silver escutcheon & barrel bolt escutcheons, sling loops, and original brass mounted ramrod.
No.1968 made 1819.
