A Fine & Rare Cased Pair of Percussion Box Lock Pistols by John Manton & Son. 7 ¼” overall, 3” fixed, case hardened, octagonal, sighted, 38 bore barrels each signed ‘John Manton and Son Dover Street’ on the top flat with an engraved band of ornament at the muzzle. London Proof marks, pierced platinum plugs, case hardened actions finely engraved with scrollwork each with a small safety catch, blued folding triggers. Finely figured chequered walnut butts, silver escutcheons each engraved with owners initial ‘J’, blued stirrup ramrods. In their original lined & fitted mahogany case with accessories including a three way powder flask covered in red leather, loading rod, cleaning rod with jag, bullet mould & nipple key, the lid with trade label.
A very fine set in near mint unfired condition.
