A Fine 54 Bore 5 Shot Percussion 4th Model Tranter Revolver. 13" overall, 6” sighted octagonal blued barrel, engraved ‘John Blissett 322 High Holborn London’ on the top flat, London Proofs, border & scroll engraved blued frame numbered 14099T, border & scroll engraved case colour hardened mounts. Frame & rammer stamped ‘Tranter’s Patent’, chequered wooden grip. In its original green baize lined oak case, the lid with trade label for John Blissett 322 High Holborn, complete with original accessories including, bullet mould, turn screw, nipple key, loading/cleaning rod, Eley cap tin, bullet tin, lubricating composition tin, oil bottle & Dixon bag shaped flask.

Fine set in near mint condition, nearly all original finish.
William Tranter traded from 13 St. Mary's Row Birmingham from 1849 to 1875, & between 1853 & 1865 was granted six British patents relating to revolvers & their accessories. He was licensed by Deane, Adams & Deane to make complete Adams self-cocking revolvers & to use Adams' patented frame for his own revolvers.
John Blissett (Son of Isaac) born 1808. Gunmaker and jeweller, 74 High Holborn, 1832-5; 321 High Holborn, 1836-50 and 316 High Holborn, 1847, 322 High Holborn, 1851-66. Gunmaker to The Duke of Sussex, Became John Blissett & Son. Granted Regd. Design No. 1050 (air-gun walking stick) 1847; British Patent No. 2069 (revolver loading lever) died 1872.
