15 ½” overall, 10"octagonal 20 bore barrels with bead fore sight, rear sight on tang, with Tower Private Proofs. Flat stepped lock with semi-waterproof pan & roller on frizzen, flat engraved swan necked cocks. Engraved ‘Wilkerson’ under the pan. Walnut half stocks with barrel slides, flattened chequered grips. Steel mounted trigger guard with pineapple finial, engraved on bow with musical trophies. Wooden brass tipped ramrods, one with a worm. Oval silver escutcheon engraved with crest of the Tempest family.

May be Colonel John Plumbe-Tempest of the 1st Royal Lancashire Militia circa 1830. He served from 1794 until 1852, commanding the RLM for a total of 33 years from 1819 to 1852.
