A Rare Naval Pattern 1859 Boarding Axe.

24” overall, head 8” across. Flared head with broad arrow WD mark and spike to back. Maker’s mark ‘W. Gilpin’ , inspector’s mark with broad arrow, dated 1891. Iron langettes, riveted to ash shaft. Handle drilled with a hole to fit it in a rack.
