An Italian Regia Marina Officers Sword. 37” overall, 31 ½” slender straight blade with a single fuller, lavishly etched with naval trophies, warships & foliage, maker’s name on forte ‘Raffaello Dani Livorno’. Gilt solid half basket hilt with Crown over an anchor, folding flap, lion head pommel with fish skin wire bound grip. In it original gilt brass and black leather scabbard.

Uncommon sword in good condition
The sword is similar to the model 1827 British naval sword, however it is smaller and has a lighter, less robust blade. The Italian navy was founded in 1861.
