37 ½” overall, 31 ½” single fullered blade, etched with crowned ‘VR’ and scrolling foliage and at the forte ‘C. Prater & Co Charing Cross London’ and ‘1st Surrey Rifle Volunteers’ with a strung bugle. Gilt brass gothic hilt with crowned ‘VR’. Stepped pommel, scrolling acanthus backstrap, black fish skin grip with triple strand gilt brass wire, hilt with its black leather liner and original bullion sword knot lacking acorn. In its original black painted scabbard.

Sword in very good condition, all original polish to blade. One crease to scabbard.
1st Surrey Rifle Volunteers formed on 14th June 1859
