A French 1817 General Officer of Gardes du Corps du Roi Sword. 41” overall, 35 ¼” straight hollow ground Colichemarde blade with original blued finish gilded to the top third on a background of engravings of military attributes & foliage engraved ‘Coulaux Freres’ & ‘Manufacture Royale de Klingenthal’. Gilded bronze hilt, pommel engraved with a grenade , chiselled knuckle bow with chiselled of stylized foliage, keyboard with the Arms of France flanked by reeds, finely chiselled with a beaded background, counter-keyboard with palm, right quillon chiselled with acanthus leaf. Filigree silver wire grip. In its original black leather gilt mounted scabbard.

Circa 1817-23
