A Rare Pair of Cased Percussion Pocket Pistols by Forsyth & Co.

7 ½” overall, 3” 40 bore octagonal sighted border engraved barrels each signed ‘Forsyth & Co Patent London’ along the length of the top flat, London Proofs. Serial numbered ‘4073’ & ‘4074’. Scroll engraved actions each finely engraved with designs of symmetrical foliage, engraved hammers and safety catches and trigger guard en suite, swivel rammers. Finely chequered figured rounded butts each with engraved pommel cap with traps decorated with a flower head, and vacant silver escutcheons. In their original mahogany fitted case lined in dark green velvet, with some accessories: loading rod, bullet mould, nipple key, three way flask, oil bottle and cap tin. The interior of the lid with maker's trade label of sixth design for 1828-38, the exterior of the lid with circular vacant brass escutcheon.
