A Fine Cased Pair of Flintlock Travelling Pistols by Hole of Bristol.

8” overall, 4” 38 bore octagonal brass sighted barrels engraved 'Bristol’ along the top flat. Post 1813 Birmingham proofs, on underside, tangs engraved with floral scrolls. Bolted flat border engraved locks engraved ‘W. Hole’, swan necked cocks, semi rainproof pans and rollers. Figured full stocks with chequered rounded butts, brass trigger guards with pineapple finials. Brass oval escutcheon. Original horn tipped ramrods with worms. In their original lined oak and mahogany case with accessories comprising lacquered brass powder-flask, brass loading rod with horn top & steel 38 bore bullet mould. The exterior of the lid with brass escutcheon.

A good cased set, pistols in very good condition probably made for a Merchant Marine Officer. One tang cracked, small crack under one lock.
