
A Very Fine Cased Pair of Rare Flintlock Side Action Travelling Pistols by H. W. Mortimer & Co. 6 ¾” overall, 2” turn-off 54 bore barrels, one numbered '1' underneath, both struck with London view & proof marks, rounded breeches signed in full ‘ H.W.Mortimer & Co London Gun Maker to His Majesty’ in engraved ovals, carried by trophies-of-arms, finely engraved tangs decorated with acanthus, rounded side action locks fitted with border engraved cocks, semi-rainproof pans, rollers, bolt safety catches, folding triggers and highly figured finely chequered butts with characteristic spirally carved pommels. In their original baize lined mahogany caddy topped case with inset handle, with coffin shaped powder flask, bullet mould & barrel spanner.
