A Rare 1777 Pattern Flintlock Sea Service Pistol. 19 ½” overall, 12” barrel with ordnance proofs, the flat lockplate with unbridle steel & rounded pan, engraved ‘Tower’ on tail, with a Crown over ‘GR’. Feather spring with spear point tip. Walnut full stock, regulation brass furniture, with iron belt hook of regulation pattern. Brass tipped ramrod. Traces of storekeeper’s & ordnance marks on stock. Barrel maker mark ‘OI’ for Joseph Oughton, lock stamped twice ‘GS’ for Samuel Galton, Rough stocker,’ ---sted’ in the ramrod channel for Richard Trested.
