A Rare Flintlock Duelling Pistol by Joseph Manton. 15 ¼” overall, 38 bore 10 ” twist barrel of octagonal form, maker’s ‘Joseph Manton Patent’ platinum poincon & platinum line at breech.  Adjustable fore sight, engraved tang incorporating V shaped rear sight, platinum touch hole. Numbered ‘6537’ on underside of barrel with barrel smith  ‘CL’ mark for Charles Lancaster. Flat bolted lockplate with wheat ear border engraving & starburst, signed ‘Joseph Manton London’, with fully waterproof pan. The steel engraved ‘Joseph Manton Patent’, swan necked cock, roller on toe of frizzen. Walnut half stock with horn fore-end, chequered butt & vacant silver escutcheon. Engraved iron butt cap & engraved trigger guard number ‘6547’ with pineapple finial. Horn tipped ramrod.

Number 6547 made in 1815

In very good condition, barrel with some original finish, trigger guard with most original finish. Tip of ramrod with slight damage otherwise very fine pistol. Now very hard to find single duellers by Joe Manton.
