A Rare Pattern 1857 Engineer Officer's Sword. 38” overall, 33" blade etched with foliage VR crown and Royal Artillery crest and motto to one side, the other with RE lightning bolts. Gilt brass hilt, the bowl of open work scrolled form with engraved designs. Wire bound fish skin grip, brass Field Officer’s scabbard.

Circa 1857

Rare sword in quite good condition, deeply etched blade, address on forte polished off or never etched, proof slug removed and no number on spine, minor dings in scabbard and soldered repairs. Sword probably by Wilkinson of Pall Mall,
