A Dutch English Civil War Wheellock Carbine.

40” overall, 26 ½” two stage octagonal to round 25 bore barrel, standing rear sight, lock with an external wheel, sliding pan cover, flat lock plate with chamfered edges with triangular end.  Angular dog, sprung curved trigger retained by two side nails, blackened beech stock with paddle butt. Iron furniture comprising spoon shaped trigger guard, thin butt plate and one ramrod pipe. On its left hand side a long sling bar with pointed ends, possibly original ramrod with iron tip.

Circa 1645.

In very good condition for a gun of this age. Light old rusting on barrel otherwise very good.
