4 ½” overall, 7/8” round brass turn off barrels numbered ‘1’ & ‘2’, and ‘3’ & ‘4’, engraved at the muzzles. London proofs, slim rectangular screwless brass box lock action, musical trophies engraving on both sides. 'D.Egg ' & 'London' on right hand side. Lever for tap to left hand side, centrally mounted ring necked cock & frizzen, top jaws engraved, safety catch behind cock, folding trigger, chequered walnut slab sided butt with diamond shaped escutcheons.

A diminutive pair of pistols of the highest quality, in very good unrubbed condition.
Durs Egg Son of Leonz Egg, gunmaker, Switzerland. Born 1748, baptised Urs Christian. After a short stay in Paris, came to London and worked for John Twigg, 1772. Granted denization in 1791. Gunmaker & Sword Cutler and renowned for his fine workmanship. Became gunmaker to George IV & Duke of York. Examples of his work are preserved in the Royal Collection, Windsor Castle, and many other public and private collections.
