A Rare Customs Officers Pipeback Sword. 34 ½” overall, 30” pipeback blade etched with Custom’s coat of arms on both sides & ‘Salter Sword Cutler 73 Strand London’. Gilt brass stirrup hilt with Customs anchor in a wreath on both langets, D shaped knucklebow, stepped pommel, fish skin grip. In its original scabbard of leather with gilt brass mounts.
Circa 1825-30.
Good condition, a rare Sword for Commanders and Lieutenants.
Salter1825-30 at 73 The Strand, he was sword cutler to Lord Nelson and Lord Exmouth.
