A Fine Cased Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver. 11½” overall, 6” octagonal barrel with bead fore sight & London Proofs, 2 line address ‘ADDRESS COL COLT LONDON’ 5 shot cylinder with stage coach hold-up scene, iron backstrap & large trigger guard, numbered ‘756’ on all parts apart from the wedge. Varnished walnut grips. In its original red velvet lined & fitted walnut case with brass escutcheon on the lid, butt stop hinges stamped ‘P. Moore Registered Septr 27 1843’. Contains bag shaped copper ‘Colts Pocket Flask’ by James Dixon & Sons, double cavity iron mould for balls and bullets stamped ‘COLT'S PATENT’ on the sprue cutter, blued combined nipple key & turnscrew, 250 count Eley for Colt cap tin.

Low number pistol with very early iron trigger guard. In good condition with some original finish. At this early date the loading & cleaning directions label was not yet in use
