42 ½” overall, 35” narrow, straight, spear pointed blade finely etched with scrolling foliage, ‘GRV’ cypher and ’J.R.Gaunt & Son Limited late Edward Thurkle London’  The spine numbered 17189. Bowl guard deeply engraved with honeysuckle pattern. Shaped grip with twisted silver wire and stepped pommel. In its field service leather scabbard with steel chape.

 Number 17189 indicates the sword was made in 1923.

 A fine sword in very good condition.
