39” overall, 21” round 54. calibre barrel with 5 groove gain twist rifling, blade fore sight, leaf rear sight graduated to 500 yards, stamped ‘Cast Steel 1864’. Side lock action stamped ‘Burnside Rifle Co Providence RI’. Breech engraved ‘Burnside Rifle Company Model of 1864’ and numbered 389. Action with central guide screw, under lever trigger guard with release latch to open breech, steel butt plate, fore end band and sling bar. Two piece walnut stock stamped with two cartouches [JHL] and [GC] for George Curtis
