10 ¾” overall, 4 ¼” blued octagonal sighted barrel signed ‘R. Adam & Company London’ on the blued top flat. Border and scroll engraved blued frame, the right side of the frame engraved ‘No B1269’ and ‘Adams Patent No 14573R’, cylinder stamped with London proof marks and ‘No 14573R’, blued rammer. Safety bolt on R/H side, engraved trigger guard, finely chequered butt pierced for lanyard, with steel butt cap. In its original green baize lined and fitted oak case with plain circular brass escutcheon on the lid and Deane, Adams & Deane label inside the lid, containing double cavity brass 120 bore mould for pointed and round bullets, cleaning rod with worm, oil bottle, bag shaped copper flask by Dixon & Sons, nipple key & turn screw, and a cap tin.

In good condition, retaining most of its original finish. Key hole escutcheon missing.
Note: Lt. Frederick Blackett Edward Beaumont, R.E., was granted a patent in February 1855 for a double action lock mechanism, based upon Robert Adams' self-cocking design.
