49” overall, 33” heavy octagonal .376 calibre barrel, stamped ‘I. Sheets OHIO’ on the top flat, windage adjustable fore sight, standing rear sight. Back action lock stamped ‘I. SHEETS OHIO’, dolphin hammer. Walnut half stock with brass scroll trigger guard, fancy patch box and curved butt plate, German Silver fore end, barrel retained by laced raw hide band, later ramrod.
Circa 1845.
In quite good condition for a possibly Indian owned gun.
