14 ½” overall, 9” two stage 18 bore barrel engraved ‘GRANTHAM’ on the top flat with ‘MT’ barrelsmith’s mark on underside, and London Proofs. Border engraved stepped, bolted lock signed ‘Manton’. Full stocked with steel mounts, wooden ramrod.
In good condition. Circa 1790.

Thomas Manton born 1758 cousin of John and Joe Manton . Apprenticed to Newton of Grantham circa 1774. Moved to London 1810 and back to Grantham in 1820. Blackmore page 138
