10 ½” overall, 4 ½” round .36 barrel with one line address: “ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK US AMERICA” with streamlined barrel and creeping rammer. With “COLTS / PATENT” stamped on the left side of the frame. Five shot rebated and half fluted fluted cylinder with “PAT SEPT. 10th 1850” stamped within one of the flutes. Silver plated back strap and trigger guard with one peace walnut grips. In its original red velvet lined American style walnut case complete with its original American eagle powder flask, bullet mould, nipple wrench with turnkey, Eley for Colt cap box, and key.
Serial number 21271 L manufactured in 1863.
In very good condition, silver plating a little rubbed.
The “L” indicates it should have gone to Colts in London but it was kept and cased in America
