13” overall, 5 ¾” octagonal barrel with blade foresight engraved on the top flat ‘Fred K Barnes & Co, 109 Fenchurch St. London’ engraved on the top flat. 5 shot cylinder with London proofs, Kerr’s rammer. Border engraved frame ‘B 14941 Adams Patent No. 306005’, ‘R’ and ‘LAC’ under a crown on right hand side of frame. Sliding safety catch. Finely chequered walnut grip.

Note: Lt. Frederick Blackett Edward Beaumont, R.E., was granted a patent in February 1855 for a double action lock mechanism, based upon Robert Adam’s self-cocking design.
