A Fine Rare Pattern 1861 Royal Engineer Sergeants Sword. 38” overall, 32 ½” slightly curved blade etched with ‘Royal Monmouth Engineer Militia’ and RE lightning bolts, and initials ‘T.H.P’ the reverse with crown VR over a canon. The forte with ‘Philips & Co George St Hanover Sq London’. Very finely engraved gilt brass hilt of the Royal Engineers 1857 pattern, shagreen grip with twisted wire binding, in its original steel Sergeants pattern scabbard, with its original leather bag.
