41” overall, 35” slightly curved spear pointed blade with broad fuller, inspector’s marks on the blade. Three bar iron guard, stamped ‘7 H’, chequered leather grip. In its original iron scabbard stamped ‘7 H’, with 2 suspension rings.

Sword and scabbard in good condition, leather washer lacking.
During the Indian Mutiny the 7th Hussars joined the forces under Outram at the Alambagh in February 1858 and were at the siege of Lucknow. After the capture of Lucknow the 7th formed part of the column with which Sir Hope Grant defeated the rebels at Barree on 13th April. They remained in India until 1871.
