39” overall with a 34” hatchet pointed blade sharpened on the back edge, signed ‘Bate’ with Crown over ‘4’ inspector’s mark (for a trooper’s sword blade), with broad fuller. Steel bowl guard of honeysuckle form with ladder knuckle bow, wooden leather covered grip with twisted gilt wire.
Contained in its original sheet iron scabbard with two suspension rings.

In good condition, officer’s swords with trooper’s blade are not uncommon.
