A Rare 1788 Officers Sword to the 7th Light Dragoons.

37” overall 32” curved blade engraved on both sides with Hussars, trophies of arms and ‘7’ over ‘LD’. German made blade, D shaped knuckle bow, grey fish skin over ribbed wooden grip. Steel scabbard with inset leather panel.

In good condition for age, small rust hole in foot of scabbard. Sword and scabbard have been shortened buy a couple of inches probably for smaller owner.

In 1784 the 7th Queen's Own Dragoons were ordered to equip themselves as Light Dragoons, they served in Flanders 1793 to 1795 and again in 1799.
