A Presentation 1822 Infantry Officers Sword. 39" overall, 33" pipebacked, spear pointed unengraved blade. Three bar gilt brass Gothic guard with crowned GR, stepped pommel and acanthus backstrap. Black fish skin grip and triple gilt wire, black leather liner. In its Gilt brass Staff Officer scabbard.

The Scabbard engraved ‘This sword was kindly given to Henry W Field by his valued cousin Mrs Richardson as a memento of her late much esteemed brother Colonel Samuel Rudyard RA and superintendent of the Royal Military Repository Woolwich who died 19th of July 1847’

Samuel Rudyard was Second Captain in Major W. Lloyds Brigade at Quatre Bras and Waterloo.
