A Fine English Hunting Hanger, 30 ½” overall, 24 ½” slightly curved twin fullered blade double edged towards the point. Silver hilt comprising fluted quillon block with recurved lobed quillon slender knucklebow with side bar en suite, domed fluted pommel cap with button, reeded horn grip of tapering oval section. Knucklebow with London Hall mark and [I.S] with a pellet maker’s mark, date letter indistinct.
In good condition, hilt very good, blade has minor staining.
The maker’s mark “I S”, almost certainly for John Fessier Savigny, who was a cutler of Huguenot descent working in London in the mid-18th century.
