A Rare Pipeback 1827 Naval Sword.

36” overall with 30” slightly curved pipeback blade with quill point. Etched and engraved with crowned fouled anchor, Royal coat of arms, foliage and ‘Prosser Manufacturer to the King, London’ on one side, with ‘Prosser Maker to the King, Charing Cross’ with Crown over IP stamped maker’s proof mark. Solid gilt half basket with crowned fouled anchor, folding side guard, lions head pommel, the backstrap with lion’s mane. White sharkskin grip with twisted wire. Blue silk and bullion sword knot. In its original gilt brass and black leather scabbard with two suspension rings.

Circa 1830.

Good condition, blade tip with some old rusting, sword knot fragile, rare with Prosser stamped proof mark.
