46” overall, 30" pattern welded barrels, with raised sighting rib signed ‘Joseph Manton’s New Improvements by His Majesty’s Patent’, London Proofs, numbered 6732 on the underside. The breech engraved with musical trophies. Percussion locks, converted from flintlock, engraved with musical trophy and ‘Joseph Manton’. Patent scroll engraved flat hammers with removable strikers, platinum plugs. Highly figured walnut half stock
with finely chequered wrist, silver escutcheon with crest, engraved steel trigger guard with pineapple finial, original brass tipped ebony ramrod with brass capped worm.
Circa 1815 converted about 1827.
In good condition, barrel with old rebrown.
Silver escutcheon with crest of Lambert Loveday Lt General in the East India Company Army [1762-1843] He was commissioned into the East India Company in 1778 and rose to the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1837 in the Army of Bengal.
