7” overall, 2 ½” turn off two stage 50 bore cannon barrel, indistinct proof marks & barrelsmith's mark. Plain tang, rounded lock signed ‘L. Annely’, highly figured walnut rootwood stock with moulded apron around the tang and globose butt, drop shaped trigger.
Late 17th/Early 18th Century
Good condition with some old rust patination, very well figured butt.
L. Annely appears to be unrecorded, however an I. Annely is recorded by W. Keith Neal and D.H.L. Back in ‘Great British Gunmakers 1540-1740’, 1984, pp. 223-225.
