A Rare Flintlock Rigby Carbine, 34” overall, 18” musket bore Damarcus barrel stamped ‘W & J Rigby’ and ‘Q3083’ on the top flat, brass foresight, 12” spring bayonet to the left hand side. Stepped flat signed lock, ‘W & J Rigby’ with roller frizzen and ring neck cock, full stocked with regulation style brass mounts, swivel ramrod.

Circa 1823-30

In near mint unissued condition, all original finish to metal parts, stock unmarked with original varnish. Unusual in musket bore.

The Irish Registration marks Q 3083 are those of Queens County [ Laois]. Carbines of this type were made for Post Office, Police and Customs Officers.
