A Fine Scottish All Metal Flintlock Belt Pistol. 13” overall, 8 ¼” 3 stage iron 25 bore barrel, reeded at the breech end for 2 ½”, plain to slightly swamped octagonal muzzle, small bead foresight, lock signed ‘D. Walker Dumbarton’ with horizontal Sear, engraved with further scrolls & border ornaments. Swan necked cock with pierced disc comb, silver button trigger, belt hook with pierced scroll finial. Original ramrod in long pipe. Iron stock profusely silver inlaid with oval scrolls etc. Ramshorn butt inlaid with silver scrolls & set with a vacant silver escutcheon on each side with silver ball pricker engraved en suite with trigger.

Circa 1730

Very good condition, engraving very crisp, no evidence of over polishing. All parts original.

May be the best pistol by Walker to survive, only one example sold at auction in the last 20 years & that was in Australia & in poor condition, plain & very short. This is in much better condition than the Museum of Scotland example which is in plain steel.

Donald (or Daniel) Walker, Dumbarton early 18th century.
