
A Very Rare Royal Welsh Fusiliers Grenadier Hanger. 33” overall, 27 ¼” slightly curved blade with single fuller & the running fox Shotley Bridge maker’s mark. Brass half basket hilt with two ‘S’ panels above a heart shaped counterguard, embossed leather grip over a wooden core impressed with the pre 1751 regimental device of a Crown over Prince of Wales feathers and ‘Ich Dein’. In its contemporary, possibly original, brown leather scabbard with brass chape and frog hook.
Circa 1740.
