A Rare Royal Highland Regiment Scottish Flintlock Pistol by Petcairn. 12 ½” overall, 7” round tapering barrel decorated with four pairs of incised lines and incised ‘R.H.R' over the breech. Flat lock of Highland type signed ‘Petcairn’, action with horizontal sear, bridle-less pan, swan neck cock, frizzen spring with spear pointed tip. Steel full stock of regulation Highland form, engraved ‘G6’ over ‘N77’ on top of the scroll butt, fitted with a baluster pricker, screw fastened long iron belt hook & exposed ball type trigger, thin steel ramrod.

Circa 1758-75

In good condition.       

Pistols for Scottish regiments were not supplied by the Board of Ordnance but bought by the Regiments agent from the maker. John Petcairn of Edinburgh only made Military pistols.
