A Fine Scottish Steel & Silver Scroll Butt Belt Flintlock Pistol by Alex Campbell. 13 ½” overall, 9 ¼” fluted three stage barrel, reeded at the breech with octagonal swamped muzzle. Steel stock of traditional form engraved overall with Celtic scrolls & silver inlay the lock signed ‘Alex Campbell Duni fecit’ (in script). The swan neck cock with disk comb pierced with a star, facetted steel & pan with horizontal sear. Three silver bands underneath, silver ball trigger & pricker. Ramrod with pierced baluster, silver escutcheons on both sides engraved with a mailed arms holding a dagger & the motto Hinc Orior (Hence I arise). Belthook with engraved tang

Crest of John Cameron of Glendessary whose sister Jean Cameron was possibly mistress of Prince Charles Stuart. Cousin of Donald Cameron of Lochiel Clan Chief of the Camerons & Fr. Alexander Cameron who is venerated as a candidate for canonization.
