A Civil War Model 1860 Spencer Repeating Rifle. 47” overall, 30” .52 calibre barrel retained with three bands, with 6 groove rifling & ladder rear sight graduated to 900 yards. DAP inspector’s mark on breech . Knox form engraved ‘SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE PAT. D MARCH 6th 1860’ numbered on the breech 2028. Under lever action, 7 shot tubular magazine in the butt, with back action lock. Two piece oiled walnut stock with faint cartouche on left hand side. Original? leather sling.

An early issue Civil War rifle in good condition with some finish. This gun delivered to the Ordnance Department 23 February 1863.
