A Scarce 1804 Pattern Naval Cutlass. 34” overall, 29” broad tapering blade stamped with crowned ‘GR’ above a ‘1’ crowned and ‘35’ on one side of the forte, and maker’s name ‘HADLEY’ along the back edge. Blackened iron hilt with figure of eight guard, white painted ribbed iron grip (this was done so the swords could be seen in the dark).
