A Gwyn & Campbell Arms Co. Type 1 Percussion Capping Breech Loading Cavalry Carbine. 39” overall, 20”octagonal to round .52 calibre 3 groove barrel. Blade fore sight & long ladder rear sight to 800 yards. Falling block action stamped ‘Union Rifle’, back action lock engraved ’Gwyn and Campbell Patent Hamilton’ rounded hammer and grapevine shaped lever. Numbered 1657 & assembly number 151 on all major parts. One piece butt carved with 11 notches, stock with inspector’s cartouche, sling ring on L/H side, curved steel butt plate.

In good condition, very good bore, butt with minor split at the join with the action.
