A Model 1836 Military Flintlock Pistol by A. Waters. 14 ¼” overall. 8" round 54 calibre barrel with brass blade fore sight. Flat lock plate rounded at tail, swan neck rounded cock, brass pan stamped ‘A Waters Milbury MS 1839’ with a eagles head stamp. Regulation iron mounts including domed butt cap, long iron back strap, side plate & barrel band with swivel ramrod. Walnut half stock with inspectors cartouches.
Dated 1839.
A rare pistol in good condition, metal parts with salt & pepper finish, one old crack to butt.
This model (23,000 made) was the last flintlock service pistol in US service, most were later converted to percussion.
