Percussion Revolver by Rigby & Co of Dublin

Revolver Tranter Patent 4th Model by Rigby SN 8688

A Fine 54-Bore Tranter Patent Fourth Model Self-Cocking Five-Shot Percussion Revolver by Rigby & Co, 12 ¾” overall,6”octagonal sighted barrel engraved around the muzzle and with scrolling foliage on each side of the breech. Border engraved top-strap with 'J.N Rigby & Co Dublin’, case-hardened cylinder with knurled forward edge, border engraved frame No 20935TT and trigger-guard each decorated with scrolling foliage, bright trigger, hammer, and scroll engraved patent rammer. Chequered rounded butt with scroll engraved case-hardened butt-cap, and virtually all its original finish. 

In its original lined and fitted mahogany case with full accessories including brass bullet mould, flask, oil bottle, Eley cap tin, tin of bullets, tin of lubricating grease, turn screw, nipple key, brass tipped and loading rod.

Adams Patent 51 Double Action Percussion Revolver

A Cased 38 Bore (.500”) Adams Patent 51 Double Action Percussion Revolver. 14 ½” overall, 7 ¾” octagonal barrel with three groove rifling. Five shot cylinder with London proof marks & serial number. Scroll engraved blued frame marked to the right hand side ‘Adams Patent No 1292’. The top strap with retailer’s name ‘Blanch & Son, 29 Gracechurch Street, London’. Finely chequered walnut grips with shell shaped engraved butt trap. In its fitted case with Deane Adams & Deane trade label. Original James Dixon pistol flask, loading/cleaning rod with bullet seating & cleaning jag, oil bottle, turn screw, nipple key, Eley Bros cap tin & original Adams marked 38 bore brass bullet mould. Uncommon to find this pistol cased.

Durrs Egg Transitional Percussion 54 Bore Revolver

A Cased Transitional Percussion 54 Bore Revolver by D Egg. 12 ½”  overall, 5 ½” octagonal barrel with bead foresight and rear sight. Multi groove rifling. 6 shot cylinder with Birmingham proofs. Scroll engraved nickel plated frame, signed ‘D Egg’. Bar hammer, two piece finely chequered walnut grip, in a mahogany refitted revolver case with some accessories including a three way flask, turnscrew, oil bottle and cap tin, with a later D Egg label.

Pinfire 9mm Revolver by Blanch

A Cased Pinfire 9mm Revolver by Blanch. 10 ½” overall, 4 ¾” octagonal 9mm bore barrel, adjustable blade foresight engraved ‘J Blanch and Son London’ on the top strap. 5 shot cylinder, ejector to the right hand side, spur trigger, Liege proofs to the left hand side of the barrel. Elaborately carved grips with scrolls and a mounted cavalryman to each side, back strap engraved ‘Capt. L R Gerard’. Butt with lanyard ring. In its original oak screwed lid case with oil bottle and John Blanch and Son trade label. We have had no luck finding out who Capt. L R Gerard is, not British army or naval, might be an American officer?

Adams 1851 Percussion Revolver

A Fine 54 Bore Cased Adams 1851 Percussion Revolver.12” overall, 6 ¼” barrel signed ‘Deane Adams & Deane 30 King William St. London Bridge’. 5 shot cylinder with London proof. Frame scroll engraved, marked ‘Adams Patent No 10761 R’. Finely chequered walnut butt with engraved trigger guard butt trap.

In its baize lined oak screwed case with round escutcheon, with all accessories; including cap bag with Adams label, powder flask, bullet mould, oil bottle, turn screws, wad cutter, boxwood box with spare nipples and loading rod. Deane and Son label in lid.

Above good condition, pistol in near perfect condition, case and accessories in very good condition but turn screw and nipple key replacements.  Cap bag labels worn.

Cased 5 Shot 120 Bore Bbeaumont Adams Double Action Percussion Revolver

A Cased 5 Shot 120 Bore Beaumont Adams Patent Double Action Percussion Revolver, 9¼ " overall, 4 3/8”  blued octagonal sighted barrel signed ‘Dean & Son, 30, King William Street London Bridge’ on the blued top flat. Border engraved blued frame, the right side of the frame engraved ‘No 452’, blued cylinder stamped with London proof marks. Polished steel Brazier’s Patent rammer ‘No 690’, safety bolt on R/H side, Engraved trigger guard, finely chequered butt with horn butt cap. In its original green baize lined and fitted oak case with plain circular brass escutcheon on the lid and Deane and Son label overlayed with T Adsett of Guildford  label  inside the lid, containing double cavity brass 120 bore mould for pointed bullets, cleaning rod with worm, oil bottle, bag shaped copper flask by Dixon & Sons, nipple key, ebony box of spare nipples and a leather cap bag. Circa 1860.
A fine revolver rare with Braziers rammer, I have never seen an example with this pattern of safety spring on the right hand side of the frame, and have not found an example illustrated in any of the references.

Double Action Percussion Revolver - Octagonal sighted barrel

In good condition, retaining most of its original finish. 

Note: Lt. Frederick Blackett Edward Beaumont, R.E., was granted a patent in February 1855 for a double action lock mechanism, based upon Robert Adams' self-cocking design.

Frame border engraved, marked ‘Adams Patent No 12709 R’, folding Rigby rammer. Finely chequered walnut butt.

In its baize lined oak screwed case with round escutcheon, with all accessories including cap bag with label, Dixon powder flask, Adams bullet mould, oil bottle, turn screws, nipple key, wad cutter, bone box with spare nipples and loading rod. Deane Adams & Deane label in lid.

Good condition nearly all finish remaining, one barrel edge with some knocks, case and accessories in very good condition. Cap bag labels worn.

Percussion Target or Duelling Pistols by Joseph Manton

A Fine Rare Cased Pair Percussion Target or Duelling Pistols by Joseph Manton, 15 ¼” overall, 8 ½” browned twist octagonal 40 bore sighted barrels signed ‘Joseph Manton Holles St. Cavendish Square, London’ along the top flat, foliate scroll engraved case hardened breeches and tangs, the former each with platinum lines and platinum plug, the latter each with back sight.  Numbered 8432 on the underside and on the breach hook with London Proofs. Flat lock plates signed ‘Joseph Manton’, border engraved case hardened detented locks each decorated with scrolling foliage, the internal working parts retaining their original brightly burnished finish, dolphin hammers en suite with the locks, and engraved safety catches. Figured walnut half stocks each with chequered rounded butt, blued steel trigger guards en suite with the locks and each with serial number 8432 on the tang, case hardened trigger plates each with foliate scroll engraved pineapple shaped finial, case hardened ovoidal butt caps engraved with scrolling foliage, vacant silver escutcheons, set triggers, dark horn fore end caps, original brass mounted ramrods.

In original lined and fitted case with accessories including Sykes powder flask retaining much of its original lacquered finish, case hardened mainspring clamp, rare Manton breech scraper, patch cutter, nipple key and ramrod, the interior of the lid with very rare Manton & Son maker's trade label, the exterior with circular vacant brass escutcheon centred on a flush fitting brass carrying handle.
In very fine condition retaining most of their original finish.

These fine target style pistols are among the very last made by Joe Manton in the short partnership with his son John Augustus at Holles Street before he died in June 1835. It has the very rare J Manton and Son trade label which is as far as I can find unrecorded.

Pair of Flintlock Holster Pistols

A Fine Pair of Flintlock Holster Pistols by Griffin and Tow.Pair of Flintlock Holster Pistols by Griffin and Tow13 ½” overall, 8” round flat topped 20 bore barrels with London proofs & ‘IG’ maker’s mark and engraved ‘Griffin and Tow London’. The border engraved rounded lockplates signed ‘Griffin and Tow’. Walnut full stocks with raised carved shells around tangs. Silver domed buttcaps by John King and silver scrolling side plates, silver escutcheon engraved with a seated Griffin crest. Iron furniture, trigger guards with acorn finials,  two ramrod pipes. Horn tipped ramrods, one with worm.

Circa 1770-75. Good condition.                                                                                  

Joseph Griffin was turned over to his father in 1741 and was free of the Gunmakers' Company in 1750. He was appointed Gentleman Armourer to His Majesty's Stables-in-Ordinary in 1760 and was elected Master of the Gunmakers' Company in 1761 and 1763. In partnership with his father until 1770 and with John Tow, 1771-82, he died in 1784

Cavalry Troopers Sword - Antique Edged Weapon

An 1888 Pattern Household Cavalry Troopers Sword. 43” overall, 37” fullered blade with various Ordnance stamps and dates, ‘1891’ at the forte, regulation HC pierced steel hilt, stamped ‘Mole’ twice, domed pommel, German silver wire bound fish skin grip. Contained in its steel scabbard complete with white leather sword knot.

A Superb Example of a Cased 54 Bore Beaumont Adams Percussion Revolver.13" overall, 5 ¾” octagonal blued steel sighted barrel with London proof marks to left hand side, top engraved 'Robert Adams 76 King William Street London', blued steel solid engraved frame, engraved to right hand side 'Adams Patent No 40784'. Sliding safety catch, left hand side with rammer. 5 shot cylinder, cylinder also numbered 40784. London proof marks between nipple, blued steel trigger guard, finely chequered walnut butt with butt plate. Contained in its original green baize lined oak screwed case with all accessories, comprising Hawksley flask, bullet mould, oil bottle, loading rod and a pair of turnscrews and nipple key, an Eley for Adams bullet bag and a tin of caps. With Robert Adams trade label in lid.

Beaumont Adams Percussion Revolver 54 Bore, rare cased

Prince of Wales Dragoon Guards Flintlock Heavy Dragoon Pistol

A Fine Pattern 1777/93 Land Service Flintlock Heavy Dragoon Pistol Regimentally Marked to 3rd Prince of Wales Dragoon Guards. 19 ½" overall, 12" round steel barrel with Kings proof stamped centrally at the breech, and ‘3rd D Gds.’, rounded double line engraved lock plate with GR cypher and Government ownership stamp and Tower across the tail, rounded swan neck cock. Walnut full stock, shaped apron around tang with storekeeper's stamp, Ordnance pattern brass furniture, wrist escutcheon, brass tipped ramrod.

A Rare Flintlock Duelling Pistol by Sykes of Oxford. 15 ½” overall, 30 bore 9 ¾”” twist barrel of octagonal form, maker’s ‘Sykes Oxford’ platinum poincon & platinum line at breech. Engraved ‘Sykes Oxford’ on top flat, bead foresight, Birmingham proofs, engraved tang incorporating V shaped rear sight. Flat bevelled stepped bolted lockplate with wheat ear border and floral engraving signed ‘Sykes oxford’. With V shaped fully waterproof pan, the V shaped steel with floral engraving.  Swan necked bevelled & engraved cock, large roller on frizzen spring. Walnut half stock with horn fore-end, chequered butt & vacant silver escutcheon. Engraved iron butt cap & engraved trigger guard with pineapple finial. Brass tipped ramrod pipe with worm.

Numbered ‘6537’ on underside of barrel with barrel smith  ‘CL’ mark for Charles Lancaster. Flat bolted lockplate with wheat ear border engraving & starburst, signed ‘Joseph Manton London’, with fully waterproof pan. The steel engraved ‘Joseph Manton Patent’, swan necked cock, roller on toe of frizzen. Walnut half stock with horn fore-end, chequered butt & vacant silver escutcheon. Engraved iron butt cap & engraved trigger guard number ‘6547’ with pineapple finial. Horn tipped ramrod.

In very good condition, barrel with some original finish, trigger guard with most original finish. Tip of ramrod with slight damage otherwise very fine pistol. Now very hard to find single duellers by Joe Manton.
