53” overall. 36” octagonal barrel with adjustable ring foresight and screw elevating rearsight stamped ‘J GRANGER & SON CHURCH SQUARE GRAHAMSTOWN’ with modern black powder proofs to underside, engraved tang with fitting for windage adjustable rearsight, with modern windage adjustable sight. Flat, florally engraved lockplate engraved ‘J GRANGER & SON’ with elaborate scroll hammer. Steel mounts comprising plain steel trigger guard, steel butt plate and patch box, ebony ramrod.

Circa 1870

In good, grey condition, no original finish remaining. Very good rifling Comes with last owner’s notes on loading and shooting, some made up paper wrapped bullets, a modern steel bullet mould.
