A Fine Over & Under Percussion Pistol by Staudenmayer, London, 14 ¾” overall, 8” round tapering barrels signed 'Staudenmayer London' on the upper flat with inlaid platinum line, engraved breech tang, bevelled locks with foliate & border engraving signed 'Staudenmayer', slide safeties & engraved dolphin hammers. Figured walnut half stock with finely chequered Catalan butt, engraved steel trigger guard with trophy of arms, butt cap, swivel ramrod with retaining spring, vacant silver escutcheon.

No. 1245 on lower barrel. Circa 1810.                               

A fine and uncommon pistol, made as a flintlock and later converted to percussion, in good condition.

Samuel Henry Staudenmyer; former apprentice of John Manton. Gunmaker 35 Jermyn Street; 1799; 35 Cockspur Street 1802-1814; 32 Cockspur Street 1814-1825 Business continued up to 1834. Gunmaker to Prince of Wales & Duke of York. Noted maker of rifles and repeating airguns.
